Tangoman is led by Argentine-born, Emmy-Award winning composer/singer/guitarist Jorge Heilpern, who has often been compared with Charles Aznavour and Julio Inglesias. His warm, soothing vocals capture the passionate elegance of a love ballad, yet intensifies with the irresistible, rhythmic, sexy Latin dance music for which he is known. He’s recorded three outstanding CD’s, including the ever-popular Mambo Daddy. His varied background includes an Emmy for composing the music to “American Promise” an NBC-TV children’s special, and training in orchestration, composition & MIDI digital music systems at Juilliard. For many years, he was one of the leading economists in Argentina, before turning fulltime to music. An in-demand performer and resident of Woodstock in the 1980’s, he’s recently moved back to New York after a hiatus in his hometown of Buenos Aires.

Joining Heilpern in the hot and driving Tangoman Dance Party Band are:
Carlos Valdez (percussion), Lonnie Leibowitz (keyboards), Ken McGloin (guitar), Jon Coghill (bass), Rebecca Franks (trumpet), Jack Ryon (sax) and T-Xiqes (drums).

The newly-renovated Bearsville Theater is an ideal venue for the steamy Latin dance experience created by Tangoman! The dance floor is large and smooth, the Lounge Bar is inviting and connects with the deck overlooking the Sawkill Creek, a perfect way to cool off between sets. The legendary theater is located on Route 212, two miles west of the Woodstock Arts Colony, and is part of the Bears Complex which includes the renowned Bear Café.

This event is part of The Bearsville Theater’s summer long series of concerts and happenings through Labor Day, the first time the legendary Woodstock theater is hosting music and special events every weekend of the season.
